"In around one hour, the amount of sun that hits the face of the earth is what we use in an entire year, globally, for our energy."

Daniel Nocera: MIT Professor

A Big Question...

How would your life be different if you totally and thoroughly believed that the future is going to be better than today? Or maybe I should say, how would your life be different if you did not believe that social collapse was coming, that everything was getting worse and worse all the time? What if your attention was focused on those amazing few who have had breakthroughs that will radically change culture!

What if?

This newsletter, today, is for you if you want to experience the radical shift in perspective that can happen from simply trusting our species and our collective ability to innovate and meet challenges as they are presented to us.

Today I have three heroes who are instilling in me a trust in an abundant future for all. This is a list that changes all the time for me, but these are the three who are giving me vision right now.

  1. Daniel Nocera of MIT: He is working with a team of scientists to revolutionize global energy. His goal is to completely break the grid and empower us all with cheap abundant energy.
  2. Dick Loehr: He is a financial genius who has left a legacy with the goal of transforming our collective and individual wealth.
  3. Andrew Cohen: He is the one who taught me how to see the big picture which gives me the trust and excitement to jump on board the moving train of cultural evolution.

Where are You in the Plan?

When I started my 'adult' journey, in the sixties, I operated under the belief that the sane way to live in the modern world was to radically reduce my amount of consumption in an attempt to walk gently on the earth.

I've radically changed my views on that as time has progressed and I have gained in knowledge. I still believe earnestly in creating beauty and community, but I don't see it from a minimalist viewpoint any more. Walking softly on the earth and creating a sustainable future comes from creating more beauty instead of simply reducing what we use.

As I've become really wise (or a wise-guy!) I've learned about the amount of resources it takes to really create beauty, to leave behind a wide trail of growing green abundance. I now believe that everything of any value is done in evolving groups of abundance and I take every opportunity to step in that stream as thoroughly as I can.

In simpler terms, it's about following and leading. Taking the role as a follower to learn new things and work in a group and, when necessary, taking the role of a leader to teach and create abundant paths.

It's a blessing to know that both those things lead us to our beautiful future of abundant energy, wealth and a healthy, thriving ecosphere.

Where are you in the plan?

Actions...

  • Think about what you would do if you had more resources at your fingertips. Who would you help? What would be your most passionate project?
